I’m starting something new here. Comics! Drawings! Words!
A little less cancer, a little more art? I don’t really know what will happen, but I enjoy drawing these days and it’s fun to have a friendly built-in audience. My idea is to play around, post more often, and see what happens. Maybe these small fragments will sweep together into something bigger. Maybe not.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring.
These days David, the boys and I mark weekends with a Saturday movie night, recently over at Eva and Sherif’s (David’s sister and brother-in-law). We watched several beautiful movies from our childhoods. The Labyrinth. The Neverending Story. Benton and Asa can’t believe there was a time before drones and green screens and love to talk about how the creatures were made and the shots taken. It also helps them be less scared.
We wake up Sunday mornings, play music, and the boys help us cook breakfast. We always make biscuits from a can and eggs, the breakfast they used to make with Abuela when she lived here while I was in treatment.
When I was little, things were similar…
We had (Mom still has) what’s now called a vintage omelette pan. It was usually a group decision as to when the eggs were cooked enough to add the secret fillings and flip the pan closed. Breakfast drama.
I was inspired by this archived #FridayNightComic “Drawing Food with Anu” - this series is appropriate for all ages and it’s all archived on YouTube. I recommend them to relax and draw. If you end up drawing along, send me your work or tag me on instagram. I’d love to see it.
If you’re on Instagram, I sometimes post work in progress:
I’ve been listening to this a lot these days, late to the party
This one had me listening to the Indigo Girls this week, cover by Jason Isabell and the 400 Unit with Brandi Carlile
& the talented beyond her years, Yasmin Williams, is perfect soothing music to play while you work, draw, or write

I love reading everything you write and listening to the music that’s capturing you. Now, I will love seeing what you draw.❤️
