Cassie
Anna Cascade Seiple
February 1, 1978 – August 21, 2024
We are heartbroken to share the news that Cassie died last week, peacefully, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Cassie Seiple came into this world on the snowy night of February 1, 1978, in Blacksburg, VA and left it peacefully on the warm night of August 21, 2024, in New Orleans, LA. In between she lived a life full of possibility, sweetness, adventure, and love.
Cassie made us laugh constantly; it was her way of being in the world. She taught us so much; it was her way of being with us. Her writing and drawing inspired us; it was her way of making sense of this life.
Cassie was quick to help and slow to judge. She talked trash when only fun was at stake and had our backs when everything was on the line. She supported friends and family through hard times and was a fierce advocate for social justice. She remembered to think about us when we had forgotten ourselves.
She will be missed more than words can say. We will look for her in the stars and the sea, in the woods and the wild, and wherever beauty resides.
Please invite your grief to be a reminder of how powerful her impact was on your life.
We will hold a memorial later this year for you to join us in celebrating her life and will announce details as soon as we’re able.
We read these simple prayers to her both before and after she passed. We share them here so that you may join us in reciting them to her as part of your grieving process if you wish.
Thank you.
Thank you for the many blessings you have given me. I will treasure forever what you have taught me. Your presence in my life has made me who I am and who I will become.
I love you.
I love you. And that love transcends death. I will not let you disappear from this world. In my grief I will find strength and a reminder of how much I love you.
I will remember you.
I will miss you, but your absence every day will only remind me of the power of your presence and your love. You will always be with me, and a part of me.
Love all a y’all through space and time,
David
